Guidelines for AI in teaching at FAU
How does FAU position itself on the use of AI in teaching?
What is FAU’s stance on the use of AI in higher education and student learning? What should I, as a lecturer, consider when selecting and using AI tools?
How can I define and regulate the use of AI in seminar or final theses?
And may I use AI to develop curricula, create presentation slides, or generate exam tasks for my teaching at FAU?
The “Guidelines for AI in Teaching at FAU” provide orientation for these and other questions, expanding upon the existing “Guidelines for Innovative Teaching”. They offer both guidance and inspiration for the responsible use of AI in teaching. These guidelines are supplemented by practical recommendations for implementing AI in teaching and assessment formats, along with helpful examples and checklists to encourage thoughtful integration of AI into educational contexts.
The Guidelines for AI in Teaching at FAU are not legally binding regulations. Rules regarding teaching and assessment are outlined in the individual study and examination regulations and may need to be adapted accordingly. Additionally, a comprehensive university-wide guideline on the use of AI at FAU is currently being developed to complement the teaching-specific guidelines.
Given the rapid developments in the field of AI, these guidelines will be subject to ongoing, integrative updates.
