In March 2026, the Erasmus+ project MoreThanHuman will launch a new 1 ECTS micro-credential learning unit for university teaching staff. The blended learning design, which was co-developed by the project partnership and will be hosted in Lisbon by Universidade Aberta, supports higher education teaching staff in designing relational learning experiences for sustainability related courses. These approaches help learners to work with interdependence, complexity, and real-world consequences rather than reducing sustainability challenges to simple cause-and-effect narratives.

A key part of the micro-credential learning unit is a hands-on, face-to-face workshop in Lisbon. Led by the project partners, this workshop is structured into four phases:

  1. Introduction to the project’s relational pedagogical framework, illustrated through practical examples.
  2. Participants and facilitators collaborate using a shared activity template to develop a learning activities for their own course, demonstrating how sustainability topics are shaped by relationships between people, places, materials, technologies and the wider living world.
  3. Participants present their ideas in draft form and receive feedback and facilitated reflection from their peers, which helps them to refine their activity for implementation in their own teaching context.
  4. The workshop concludes with a collective reflection of the learning material and the workshop itself.

Throughout the pilot (March – April 2026), participants will also explore the project’s learning materials, the areas of focus of the relational pedagogical framework and interact with the project’s virtual learning environment. These resources are being developed as core outputs of MoreThanHuman. Insights from the pilot will inform the refinement of these resources before their wider release.
