Submissions for the MEDEA Awards 2026 Now Open

The MEDEA Awards 2026 are officially open for submissions. The awards recognise excellence in the design and production of educational media and celebrate innovative approaches to teaching and learning across Europe and beyond. 

Participation is free of charge, and entries must be submitted online by 28 February 2026 (midnight)

Who Can Participate? 

The competition is open to a wide range of contributors, including: 

  • Students 
  • Teachers and educators 
  • Schools and universities 
  • Media producers 
  • EdTech innovators 

Whether you are developing media within a university context, a school project, or as part of a professional production team, the MEDEA Awards offer an international platform to showcase your work. 

What Can Be Submitted? 

The awards are looking for innovative educational multimedia materials, including: 

  • Educational videos, podcasts and vlogs 
  • Games, simulations and animations 
  • AR/VR/XR applications 
  • AI-powered learning tools 

Projects should demonstrate high-quality design and a clear educational purpose. 

Award Categories 2026 

Submissions will compete in the following categories: 

  • Best Educational Media Award 
  • Special Jury Prize 
  • Audience Favourite Prize 
  • Thematic Prize 2026: Best Use of Educational Media in Science 

Judging Criteria 

Entries are evaluated by an international jury according to: 

  • Pedagogical quality (didactic design, target audience alignment, clarity of learning objectives) 
  • Media quality (technical execution and creative approach) 
  • Innovation 

The awards aim to highlight projects that combine strong educational foundations with compelling media production. 

Important Dates 

  • Submission deadline: 28 February 2026 
  • Announcement of finalists: Mid-April 2026 
  • Awards ceremony: 17–18 June 2026 

The ceremony will take place during the 15th Media & Learning Conference in Leuven, Belgium. Finalists will be invited to attend the conference and showcase their work to an international audience of educators, researchers, and media professionals.
