Save the date:  31 October 2026 is the deadline for the next CLASSIC vhb and OPEN vhb funding round (2026-II)

Please make a note of the following deadlines now:

  • Early October 2026: Internal review and approval of your vhb-application at FAU
  • By 31 October 2026: Submission of your application to the vhb

The instructional designers at the FAU vhb Office (FAU Lehre) are already available to assist you with consulting, brainstorming, finding partners, concept reviews and application reviews.

Good to know: The vhb – different opportunities to enhance your digital teaching

To promote higher education in Bavaria, the vhb offers a wide range of online courses in various disciplines. These are developed and supervised by lecturers from the participating universities. The vhb comprises, amongst others, these two main funding lines:

CLASSIC vhb – Online courses integrated into the curriculum

CLASSIC vhb offers online courses running alongside the academic term for enrolled students.

  • ECTS credits can be earned
  • Participation is free of charge for students
  • Funding amount: up to 75,000 euros for development and production

(plus additional funding for FAU Teaching as a Centre for Media Didactics, language versions and support)

OPEN vhb – Open online courses

OPEN vhb courses are aimed at a broad audience and are also open to interested external participants.

  • Funding: up to 37,000 euros

(plus additional funding for language versions)
