Reflecting on Your Teaching Practice – Final Seminar of the Advanced Level

When was the last time you consciously took the time to reflect on your teaching?

In the day-to-day demands of academic life, there is often little opportunity to pause and take stock. Yet systematic reflection on one’s own teaching practice can provide valuable insights, helping educators make informed pedagogical decisions and identify new directions for further development.

In this final seminar of the Advanced Level, you will engage in an in-depth exploration of a question arising from your own teaching practice. Drawing on the concepts and models introduced throughout the programme, you will reflect on their application and examine how they can inform and enhance your teaching. You are also encouraged to incorporate relevant research findings and additional theoretical perspectives into your analysis.

You will choose one of the following focus areas:

• Analysing the implementation and impact of teaching and learning concepts in your own courses
• Designing a teaching concept and justifying key decisions based on educational models and theories
• Examining and evaluating an assessment from a pedagogical perspective
• Analysing the use of digital tools in teaching and reflecting on their opportunities and limitations

A key element of the seminar is collaborative exchange. In peer-feedback groups, you will present your work in progress, receive constructive feedback, and further develop your ideas in dialogue with fellow educators.

The seminar consists of two in-person sessions connected by a period of independent study. During this phase, you will work on your chosen topic and prepare a written paper. A peer-feedback meeting will support you in refining your argumentation and strengthening your analysis.

As the concluding seminar of the Advanced Level, this course offers an opportunity to integrate key insights from your academic teaching development programme with your own teaching practice and to translate them into sustainable approaches for your future teaching.
