From September to early November, 21 participants successfully completed the vhb tutor training offered by the FAU Competence Center Education. The course began with a motivating kick-off meeting and was accompanied by a variety of assignments through which participants could earn up to 300 points towards their certificate.

The training covered all competencies required for tutors involved in digital teaching formats. Since their role extends far beyond course support and also includes contributing to the development of online formats, a broad range of topics was addressed: legal foundations of online teaching, media didactics, assessment of learning progress, basics of teaching, digital communication, and technical skills.

In addition, current developments were included, such as the pedagogically meaningful and reflective use of AI tools to support teaching and learning processes (e.g., AI comics, see graphic below).

A defining element of the training is its intentional shift in perspective: instructors deliberately stepped into the role of learners. Through intensive practice sessions, collaborative group activities, and authentic insights into learning motivation, knowledge building, and online communication, participants gained hands-on experience that they can directly apply in their future work as e-tutors.

Upon completing the multi-week programme, participants are equipped to communicate with confidence, provide skilled support to virtual learners, manage technical challenges with ease, and design and implement their projects with strong didactic foundations and professional media expertise.

The next tutor training course starts on February 23, 2026.

Registration is now open (until February 15) at: vhb.org

We warmly congratulate all graduates from across Bavaria and extend our sincere thanks to vhb for their support!
