Coaching, Counseling, and Observing

Coaching and counseling in higher education teaching have experienced significant growth in recent years. Through one-on-one sessions with experienced coaches, educators have the opportunity to reflect on various aspects of their role as lecturers and university teaching. The topics covered during counseling and coaching sessions may include:

  • Educational planning of courses
  • Dealing with students or with co-instructors
  • Basic conditions of teaching
  • Conducting courses
  • The role of the lecturer
  • Problems in teaching (e.g., negative evaluations)

At the beginning of each session, the goals for that session are set.
Coaching and counseling take place in a confidential setting.
